When Life Finds You: Discovering Purpose in the Unexpected

Updated: May 20

Have you ever felt like you were on a mission to find your life's purpose-reading the books, taking the courses, even praying or meditating on it-only to discover that, somewhere along the journey, life found you instead?

Sometimes, we search so hard for clarity and direction that we overlook the quiet, organic ways life reveals purpose to us. It may come through a conversation that lights something within you. A hardship that becomes your breakthrough. A detour that introduces you to the very passion you were meant to pursue.

For me, my search for purpose felt complicated, like a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I had never felt so confused or without direction. I didn't know how to understand what my place in the world was.

Though I had ideas in my head about the things that gave me a sense of purpose, I faced many challenges when it came to executing those ideas and passions and making them a reality. I thought purpose was something I had to figure out all at once, but over time, I realized it's more of a relationship than a destination. The more I showed up authentically, the more life began to meet me halfway. Slowly, purpose began to unfold-not in a perfect, polished way, but in pieces that made sense only in hindsight.

The truth is that purpose isn't always something we chase down. Often, it's something we align with. It flows from our lived experiences, our values, and the whispers of the heart. When we live with intention, even in small moments, we invite purpose to meet us where we are.

So, if you're feeling lost or unsure about purpose, take heart. Keep moving. Keep exploring. But also...be still enough to notice how life might already be calling you, shaping you, and offering the clues you need.

I invite you to use this journal page below as a space for reflection and creative expression. Let it be a gentle companion on your journey-weather you're writing, doodling, or simply sitting with your thoughts. There are no right or wrong answers, only moments of truth waiting to be discovered.
